How do proxies work?

Proxies work by sending your requests to a middleman server. The middleman server then retrieves the data you have requested and sends it back to you. This is useful when the resource you originally requested is inaccessible from your network. While you may not be able to reach the resource you wish to, most of the time the proxy server will be able to reach the server and relay the information back to you.
